Before arriving in the Red Stick, we tried to search online for popular attractions, touristy stuff to see, most of the things listed were not of interest to us. Louisiana State University is in Baton Rouge and most the attractions were related to LSU, or LSU Football. So we decided to head downtown and walk around and see what we could find. To our luck on the night we visited the City of Baton Rouge was holding a large Christmas themed festival. We walked around the downtown, saw the sights and capped off the night with a large fireworks display. This is what we saw:
Larger Freighter on the Mississippi River
Downtown Baton Rouge
Destroyer U.S.S Kidd (we did not enter as we already saw the much bigger U.S.S Alabama)
This is the only snow kids see in Louisiana, Man made
This was a Joke, this tiny area is a skating rink. The surface is plastic and they were spreading some sort of lubricant on it.
Live Blues on the Mayor’s Stage (Baton Rouge City Hall in background)
Old State of Louisiana Capitol Building, now a sort of Museum. The architecture inside was amazing. (Built 1852)
Stained glass ceiling inside old Capitol Building
Levee on the Mississippi
We have seen many fireworks displays, but never have we been able to stand about 30 Metres away from where they launch from. You could feel the shockwaves when they went off
New Orleans Tomorrow!!!!!!
