The first day started very cloudy, thankfully the clouds disappeared around 4pm, and we had a few hours of sunshine. We drove parts of North Myrtle Beach, not really sure which parts are the nicest, so we kind of looked everywhere. The beach is massive, probably would take at least 1.5 hours to drive the beach. There are numerous different cities along the beach. We stopped at the Cherry Grove Pier, and after paying our $2 admission to go on the pier, we also decided to rent a fishing rod. There were quite a few people out fishing. Of course, we did not officially catch anything, we had a few blue crabs on the hook, but they fell off before reeling them in. We also had lots of bites, from fish and birds. The birds on the pier are crazy! They will stand one foot away from you, and when you pull your hook out of the water, they will fly by and steal your bait. One person on the pier actually caught a bird, and he had to grab the bird and remove the hook. We were rewarded for our 4 hours of fishing with an unbelievable sunset. We are hoping the weather is better tomorrow. It was a great way to burn an afternoon.
